Following Your Dream
(Osama Ullah Khan)

When I first received the acceptance email from the IEEE conference, I really couldn't believe it. I read the email twice as it was simply unbelievable. My research paper on "Design of X-band 4x4 Butler matrix for microstrip patch antenna array" was accepted for publication in IEEE TENCON2006 international conference. The idea to write a research paper was given to me by my teacher Dr Zainab Zaidi. After my selection as an internee in RF-lab SRDC (Satellite Research & Development Center) SUPARCO (Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission) I got the opportunity to do some research-oriented work in smart antenna field.

When I completed the design of my project than I started to write a paper on it. My friend Ashar Ahmed told me about IEEE TENCON2006 conference paper submission deadline and it was July 2006. I submitted the paper and in August I came to know that my paper got accepted for publication. I had to submit registration fee of around HK$ 2000. On the next day I contacted my teacher Muhammad Nauman and he forwarded my case to higher authorities. The NED University under their limited budget paid the registration fee of my paper. But I wanted to represent NED and my country at the conference 13-17 Nov 2006 Hong Kong.

My teacher Junaid Alam told me about Koshish foundation and asked me to contact them. Than I immediately visited Koshish website and contacted Mr Zeeshan. Mr Zeeshan replied promptly.

The Koshish Foundation fully funded my visit to Honk Kong. I reached the conference venue on time. I also got the honor to be the Chairperson of my session under the heading of Antenna and Microwave devices. The presentation went good. I was a little nervous in the beginning as I had no such prior experience but things started to settle down as the time progresses.

In the end I would like to thanks Sir Nauman and the entire Koshish Foundation team that supported me throughout, for without their help it would not have been possible.
